Age 61, passed away June 14, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Marie moved to Calgary, Canada with her family at the age of 10 then moved to the U.S. in 1988 where she lived in New York and later moved to the Greater Washington DC Metro area to include Virginia and Maryland. In 2021, Marie moved to Kailua, Hawaii.
Marie was a graduate of the University of Calgary. She recently retired as the Chief Information Security Officer of the Peace Corps in Washington, DC. Prior to her tenure at Peace Corps, Marie managed her successful startup company M2 Associates in Maryland for over 10 years. She was preceded by her father Arcanjo (Michael) Fernandes and brother Malcom Fernandes. She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years Patrick, mother Gemma Fernandes, brother Maverick Fernandes (Susanne Kurisu), two nieces (Cassidy and Samantha) and a nephew (Joshua). Marie has touched countless numbers of lives all over the world. Loving, kindhearted and caring she often put others before her own needs and brought fun and laughter to others. She was an incredibly strong and dignified person who was a consummate role model and mentor of many. Marie will rest forever in our hearts and memories. Services are to be determined.
