Suzanne Yuriko Murakami
Suzanne Yuriko MurakamiSuzanne Yuriko Murakami "Susu" passed away in Honolulu on May 19, 2022. She was a graduate of Kaimuki High School and the University of Hawaii. She moved to San Francisco and worked for Standard Oil in accounting; she returned to Hawaii and the University of Hawaii to earn her teaching certification. She taught for over 40 years, retiring from McKinley High School as an English teacher.

Suzanne loved to travel. She went to Europe, Japan, California and Las Vegas to visit family and friends. She was philanthropic, donating to many charities throughout the years. She was a fan of books, music, pop culture, sports, and her beloved Rainbow Warriors. She loved gardening, and kept a garden in the courtyard below her classroom at McKinley High School until she retired.

Suzanne was loving and generous, giving a gift and a smile to her nieces and nephews for every birthday, Christmas and any time she could. She loved and never forgot her grand-dog, Inuki. Suzanne was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Suzanne is survived by older sister Mrs. Eloise S. (Masaaki) Hamano and younger brother Mr. Melvin M. Murakami; sister-in-law Marilyn (Murakami) Miller; nieces Robyn Murakami Kim and Tiffany Mina and their families, nephew Travis Meeds and family.

Visitation: 12:00 noon on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 1:00 PM. Masks required.
