99, of Haiku, Maui, passed peacefully on June 26, 2022, under the compassionate care of Hospice Maui & Roselani Place in Kahului. Her life can be summarized as a wonderful mother and great friend. She cared for & respected everyone she encountered from Boy Scouts to 17 years as a volunteer with Maui Morial Hospital. Misao was predeceased by her husband, Masaaki "Mohawk" Nakagawa; daughter Joanne; & sons Richard & Thomas. She survived by her sisters Jean Haru Corrales of Waipahu, Oahu, Dorothy Fumie (Chester) Gage of Sequim, WA & brother Ted Tadao (Jean) Takayesu of Boston, MA; daughter Francine (John) Paxson Redondo Beach CA; & many numerous nieces & nephews. Misao's ashes will be scattered over the ocean in a private ceremony. No Koden or flowers, please however, donations may be made to Hospice Maui.
