Lymey Kahekili Wilson
Lymey Kahekili Wilson
An unforgettable man...LYMEY KAHEKILI WILSON of Waimanalo, peacefully entered eternal life on May 15, 2022, at age 78. He was a 1961 graduate of Kailua High School. Lymey joined the Navy and served with honors on the carrier "Midway" as an airplane mechanic, seeing the world, while serving his country. He was known for his lifesaving techniques as a Honolulu Ocean Safety Lifeguard and participated in the rescue of many lives while serving in the Honolulu Fire Department/Rescue Division, for many years. Lymey then created the very popular catering service, Clambake Hawaiian Style Inc.,

Lymey's true respect and passion for the ocean led him to Captain the aku boat, The Orion and his personal boat, O'nani Ke Kai. His many adventures allowed him to bless his family and friends with an abundance of fresh fish and stories of intrigue and humor as he braved the ocean elements. Lymey won numerous statewide fishing tournaments. His advanced knowledge of the stars, respect for nature and his extensive experience in the ocean, always gave him a clear path home to He'eia Kea Pier and into the arms of his loving wife of 31 years, Charlene Wilson.

Lymey came from a family of avid golfers and was a proud member of the Pit Bulls of Olomana Golf Club. He enjoyed the challenge of the game and looked forward to making memories on the 19th hole at Olomana Golf Links. Lymey, like his father, was a master wood worker and made the most beautiful Koa toy train sets, automobiles, rocking chairs and much more. In his retirement, Lymey operated a busy commercial kitchen making his delicious tropical treats, which he sold at the Windward Mall Farmer's Market. His ono pickled onions, broke da mouth smoked marlin and Hawaiian style trail mix were crowd favorites. He loved traveling to Las Vegas with his family, especially with his wife who he lovingly nicknamed Sophia.

Lymey is missed daily and will live in our hearts forever. He was preceded in death by parents, Henry Abel and Sui Lan Ho Wilson, brother, Sidney Wilson (Barbara Jean), sister, Wendy Maluhia Sorgent, and stepdaughter, Cheryl Leong. Lymey is survived by wife, Charlene Mactagone Wilson, son, Guy Wilson, daughter, Malia Wilson, stepdaughters, Rita Among (Pat), Leslie Lam (Merv), Kelly Spencer (Chuck), 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and 15 grandnieces and grandnephews.
