Balbino Albert “Miki” Ibarra
Balbino Albert "Miki" Ibarra, 86, of Honolulu, passed away on June 09, 2022, at home and surrounded by family. He was predeceased by parents, Balbino and Helen; siblings, Lorraine and Ronaldo (Doris); and beloved wife, Patricia. He is survived by 5 children, Sherie, Kendal, Stephen (Sharmaine), Randall, and Bradley; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandbunnies. In 1953, he graduated from St. Louis College, where he'd participated in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corp program. For eight years, through 1961, he honorably served in the California National Guard, United States Army Reserve, and United States Air Force. In 1999, after 40 years, he retired from Dole Food Company. Our dad and papa was a selfless, kindhearted, and generous man, who, throughout his life, worked hard and sacrificed to care for his loved ones. He was intelligent, with a witty sense of humor and smile that reached his eyes. He enjoyed reading (including the bible and dictionary), listening to Hawaiian music, singing and playing ukulele and guitar, photographing and videoing family and friends, building model airplanes, fishing, netmaking, boatbuilding, making cat eye and puka shell necklaces, watching movies, solving crossword puzzles, baking (including sellout milk bread), and woodworking (including double-hulled canoes). Through the end of his life, he lived in dedicated service to God, setting an example for us by not only his steadfast faith, but his humble works. Following his early days as an altar boy, he spent years helping to caretake and fundraise for the church which he was a member of his entire life. Celebration of Life to be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2747 Pali Hwy Honolulu 96817, on Friday, August 12, 2022. Visitation 9-10am, Eulogy 10-11am, Mass 11am-12pm. Interment private.
