88, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away on July 6, 2022."Joann" was born on Oct. 11, 1933 in Bremen, IN to Henry and Flora Mae Smith.
She grew up in Bremen with brothers Herman, George, Robert, Carl and sister Clara Mae. In 1954, she married her first husband Dale Freed and they had four sons Denzil, Wayne, Don and David. In 1984, she married Gene Guild of Hawaii where they enjoyed attending church at the Kailua Assembly of God.
She is survived by her son David (Teresa) Freed, daughter-in-law Barb Freed, nephew John Hedges. Her siblings Herman Smith of Hawaii, George Smith of Plymouth and Clara Mae Pfeifer of Bremen, many grandchildren, great-grand- children, nieces, nephews and her beloved dog "Baby".
Joan loved Christian music and movies. She enjoyed times with family, friends and her church community including her friend Rose. She will truly be missed and never forgotten. Son David says, "We love you mom and we will see you in heaven someday."
Funeral services will be at a later date in Hawaii and burial will be with her late husband Gene Guild at The Veteran's Cemetery in Kaneohe, Hawaii
