ANNE WINIFRED MCKAY
ANNE WINIFRED MCKAYAnne Winifred McKay passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2022. She was born in Oakland, California on July 16, 1935, the only child of John Rudolph Kluss and Violet Louise Miller. She is survived by her husband Robert H. McKay and her sons Timothy and Geoffrey Walker, daughter-in-laws Shari Walker and Kathleen Snellback and grandsons Duncan and Michael Walker. She was also dearly loved by Robert's (Bob's) family, children Karen, Jon and Kevin, daughter in law Becky and grandchildren, Jenny, Susan, Josiah, Daniel and Malia.
Anne made Oahu a more beautiful and cultural place. She served on the board of the Windward Community Arts Council and brought Chamber Music to the Windward side of Oahu. From an early age, Anne was a lover of arts, music and theater. As a young adult she enjoyed going to Bohemian Jazz clubs in San Francisco. She loved to go to art museums, attend concerts and performances of opera, theater, symphony and chamber music.
Anne and Bob spent many happy years traveling around the world. They loved to experience the foods and culture of different countries. Anne was an avid reader of novels and Hawaiian history. She loved to do the New York Times crossword puzzle. She loved to cook. She loved old movies and loved to dress in vibrant colors and wear awesome earrings. Anne served as a guide at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden on the Windward side of Oahu. She loved learning about native and non-native plants and animals of Hawaii. She loved to share her knowledge with school children and other tour groups.
Before working at Ho'omaluhia, Anne and former husband George VanDuzee Walker worked for Safeway stores, which brought them to Hawaii in 1969. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hawaii Chamber Music at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?donation=cmhi.

Services will be held at the Hawaiian Memorial Park
on Monday August 8 at 9:30 AM.
