Dorsey was born on September 28, 1951, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Fritz Minuth and Barbara Reed Sleight. In 1961, she moved to Hawai'i with her family and graduated from Punahou School in 1969. She then attended University of Colorado Boulder after which she began her teaching career at 'Iolani School. Dorsey touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues during her 40 years at 'Iolani. She was known for her creativity, leadership within the faculty, and her caring, supportive nature.
She inspired those around her to be empathetic, positive-minded, and community-oriented.
Dorsey loved playing tennis, reading, and traveling. She was a dedicated member of St. Clement's Episcopal Church and enjoyed relaxing on Hunakai Beach with her beloved dog, Roxi. Above all, she always kept her family at the forefront of her life. We will forever cherish Dorsey's generous, gentle spirit and quiet strength.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Gibson, son, Carl (Maka) Gibson, daughter, Dana Gibson, and brothers Reed (Megin) Minuth and Eric Minuth.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 5pm at 'Iolani School's St. Alban's Chapel. The family asks that gifts in Dorsey's memory be made to 'Iolani School and mailed to: 'Iolani School Advancement Office 563 Kamoku St. Honolulu, HI 96826
