Suzanne Marie Castro (nee Saunders), age 62, passed away on July 15, 2022. She was born in Martinez, CA. She is survived by her husband Wayne, sister Heather, sons Wayne Jr. and Brad, daughter Samantha, grandchildren Aubrianna (10), James (7), Selena (3) and Leila (1). She was a cheerleader for Martinez High School and graduated with the class of 1978. After high school, she adventured to Japan where she married George Tarr. After 7 years they divorced and she continued her adventures to Hawaii to pursue a position as a Financial Analyst at Hickam Air Force Base. It was on Hickam AFB where she met her current husband, Wayne. On November 24, 1990 they married and she found happiness in loving and raising all their children. In 1991, the family moved to California where she continued as a Financial Analyst at March Air Force Base. She decided to retire in 1996 and pursued her dream goal of going to college. She graduated Phi Theta Kappa with a Psychology degree from the University of Hawaii. She used her experience and knowledge to serve as a counselor for Salvation Army.
Her life focus was on making memories. Suzi and Wayne spent many hours planning their adventures, from little trips to the mainland or the neighbor islands, to the grander trips to Mexico, Europe, Spain, Jamaica, Japan and Great Britain. However, her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with the grandchildren. She had a soft spot for stray cats and her most recent addition to the family were her two male Yorkie puppies. Everyday pleasures at home included many crafts, hobbies, reading, or cooking gourmet meals. Suzanne should always be remembered for her life's motto "Adventures Await!".
Services will be held on August 26, 2022 at Borthwick Mortuary
