Art moved to California in 1940, finished school and began work as an usher in the movie theatres. He met and married Laree Kessler. He was in the Navy by the end of World War II. Upon his return to civilian life Art went back to the movie business and continued his career climb at Pacific Theatres. He hosted many movie premieres and met many movie stars. He and Laree traveled all over Asia.
In 1972 Art and Laree moved to Honolulu so Art could become President of Consolidated Theatres in Hawaii. Many of his innovations remain ongoing today: the opening logo with paddlers and dancers, the mural at Kahala, the filmfest. They were original owners and residents at the Waipuna condominium where Art had still resided.
Art retired in 1998 to form his own company, AG Theatre Consultants which he ran until the day of his death. He was a loyal sports fan and loved to play the odds in Las Vegas. He loved good food and sardonic humour.
Art was predeceased by his brother Stanley, his; wife, Laree; and his parents. He is survived by son, Ken Gordon (wife, Margo) and grandson, Daniel Gordon (wife, Maria). We know he had a happy life and are grateful that he was able to recently enjoy Father's Day with his family. He will be missed.
