Ivan William Buddenhagen died on July 9, 2022, in Davis, CA at age 92. He dedicated his 60 years of work as a plant pathologist and plant breeder to benefit large agriculture and village farmers around the world with improved rice, banana, maize, garbanzo, and garlic. He was a professor at UH from 1964-1974. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Kojima Buddenhagen; five children; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His beloved son William died in 2015.
