FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Thomas Takao Yoshioka
Thomas Takao Yoshioka 91, of Kaneohe, passed away on July 1, 2022. He was born in Hanapepe, Kauai on November 23, 1930, to Tomoichi and Takayo Yoshioka. Tom graduated from McKinley High School in 1948 and UH Manoa in 1952. He was drafted into the army in 1953 when the Korean War was in progress. When Tom was discharged in 1955, he continued his education in San Francisco at Heald College of Engineering. After receiving his degree in electrical engineering, he worked for Boeing Airplane Company for three years, and then he returned to Hawaii to work for Hawaiian Telephone Company for 25 years. While at Hawaiian Telephone Company, Tom worked as the project engineer responsible for the design and construction of the main telephone company building on Bishop Street. After retiring from Hawaiian Telephone, Tom worked for M&E Pacific for six additional years.
Tom married Ellen Yoshiye Seki in 1956. They both loved to travel and were able to visit 49 of the 50 states, Canada, Japan, China, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. After retirement, they joined the Kaneohe Senior Center. There Tom enjoyed singing Hawaiian songs and playing ukulele, watercolor painting, and attending Hawaiian language classes.
Tom will be remembered by all for his kindness, hard work, and gentle spirit. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; son, Gary (Jodi) Yoshioka; daughters Donna (Gerald) Young and Gina (Craig) Nakahara; five grandchildren: Courtney, Jennifer, Mia, Reyn, and Taylor; and sisters Betty Morimoto and Harriet Tojo.
Before he passed, he wasn't able to thank his relatives, friends and neighbors for a wonderful life. He said to please thank all of them and he hopes to see all of them in the next life.
