Betty Jane “BJ” Leinani Van Gieson Rodenhurst

Betty Jane Leinani Van Gieson Rodenhurst of Kailua, Oahu passed away unexpectedly at home on August 3, 2022 at the age of 90. Leinani was born in Honolulu to Adeline Rapoza and Henry Van Gieson. She was raised in Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. She retired from GTE Hawaiian Tel after 40 years of service.
She is survived by her husband and lifelong sweetheart of 71 years, Melvin "Red" Rodenhurst, Sr.; son Melvin "Oni" (Jill) Rodenhurst, Jr; daughters Kaleinani Bourke and Kekapa "Kapa" Rodenhurst; grandchildren: Kamaile, Lahela, Vinny (Kira), Ikaika (Gabby), Iwalani and Pua; great-grandchildren: Aimee, Rylee and Steven.
Drive-thru Celebration of Life on Saturday August 27, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at residence in Kailua. Inurnment: private at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Kaneohe.
