72, of MT. View, HI, died at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was born in Canton, Ohio on November 11, 1949 and was an Equipment Operator with the State of Hawaii, Highways Division. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi, HI. Services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, HI at 9:30 a.m. Lunch at Hilo Womens Club to follow. Additional services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kaneohe, HI, visitation at 10:30 a.m. and mass at 11:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and no flowers
Paula is survived by her children, Richard (Juliet) Moniz, Paul Moniz, Tina Moniz Smithe, Lia (Tony) Samson, Ginny Moniz, Christy Casavilla, and Kekoa (Malia) Crowell. Siblings, Sheila (Roderick) Akui and Anita (George) Moniz. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Paula was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Thelma Scanlon, husband Frank Moniz, sister Linda Mitchell, and son, Chad Moniz.
