He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded a bronze star during his second tour in Vietnam. Following military retirement, Ed worked another 20 years at GTE Hawaiian Tel. His early years involved life abroad and overseas travel. Retirement meant more trips-- Japan and Las Vegas were favorite destinations.
Ed was kind and generous-- evidenced by loving sacrifices for his mother-in-law, a household member for over 35 years. He was also gregarious--sharing varied life experiences with his many friends, family, and golf and lunch buddies. In later years, he received much joy from his grandchildren and visits from niece Emiko (namesake of his mother-in-law).
Ed is survived by wife Nora; children Irene (Roy) Fukuji, Gerry (Audrey), Alan, Debra, Michael (Reimi) and Steven (Nicolette); brother Robert (Sally); sister Nancy; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Private services (with military honors) for family members followed by interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
