Kay worked at Fashion Beauty and opened her own business – Cheryl Kay Beauty Shop for 18 years. She married Charles Hirayama in 1963 and raised two children in Pearl City. Kay loved hosting get-togethers including her annual New Year's Eve parties, holiday parties, and Sunday night dinners. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and son-in-law.
In Kay's later years, she enjoyed taking many trips to Japan with her family. She had a passion for karaoke, making many friends, and becoming president of the Omoshiroi Karaoke Club.
Throughout her life, Kay touched so many peoples' lives, bringing joy and sunshine wherever she went. She had the gift of bring people together and making everyone around her happy and comfortable. She lived life to the fullest, cherished her family and friends, and will always be remembered for her unconditional love, kindness, and generosity to all.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Charles Hirayama; children, Cheryl (Hirayama) Katano and Alan Hirayama; son-in-law, Tracy Katano; and grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, and Arlie Katano.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Mililani Memorial Park – Mauka Chapel. Visitation: 9:30 a.m.; Service: 10:30 a.m.
