As a young girl, Yvonne studied ballet and danced hula for several years, and while a student at McKinley, she excelled in performing on stage with the high school theatre.
Later in life, Yvonne became a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness in Hawaii. Through her work at Kamehameha Schools Community Education Programs, the Special Parent Information Network, Hawaii Families as Allies, and Hawaii Youth Helping Youth Program, Yvonne assisted countless parents and children with mental health awareness education and assistance, statewide. She often told both adults and children: "When you look back on the past, always remember that you were doing the best that you could with what you had at that time."
Yvonne enjoyed the simple things in life. She undeniably loved her family and simply adored ALL animals. She had a very passionate, caring, and beautiful soul. After a brave battle with cancer for six years, Yvonne peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by love, with her loving husband and daughters by her side.
Family and friends will surely miss her loving, joyful spirit
and her beautiful smile, while continually inspired by her
strength, compassion, and wisdom.
There will be no immediate services for Yvonne.
