FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Sally A. Myers
Sally A. MyersSally was born in West Virginia to Ruth Elizabeth McCorey and Arthur McCorey (both deceased). After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to get her nursing degree. She eventually ended up in Hawaii and worked at Queen's Hospital for over twenty years under Art Ushijima. She was a powerhouse that set the foundation for IRB (Institutional Research Board). She demanded integrity, excellence and patient protection to make sure these things were up to national standards. Sally introduced innovative ideas such as a nutritional support team and wound care, and was a true patient advocate who fought injustices and ignorance all of her life. Our community truly has a lot to thank Sally for since a lot of the fundamentals of research and patient care treatments were based out of her own determination in conjunction with a few likeminded health care professionals. Friends remember her as being extremely outgoing, happy and sharp witted, and could hold her own in any conversation, whatever the topic. Sally loved her plants, quilting and her sewing machine. Her loving husband, Grover Liese, predeceased Sally. Sally is survived by her brother John McCorey and his wife Lila and two nephews, Tony and Jeff. She is also survived by Grover's daughter, Lisa, and her two children Cameron and Dylan, as well as Grover's son, Tony, and his son, Max. You will be missed Sally. Cheers! If anyone would like to be invited to Sally's service or celebration of life when it is scheduled, or to send condolences, please do so via email to Lisa Liese at LisaLiese@gmail.com.
