In David's personal life, he was a proud graduate of the Sand Island Substance Abuse Center. David's sobriety began on October 2, 1995, which he recognized as his "Second birthday." During his free time, David enjoyed fishing, sleeping, watching UFC, and going out to dinner with his children (in that order.) David lived each day by the Word of God and was always there for those in need. The love and devotion David expressed towards his family and friends will always be remembered.
Surrounded by his family, David passed away peacefully on August 22, 2022, at The Queen's Medical Center. David's legacy will continue to live on through his son, Dean Kira; his daughter, Diana Akamine; and ex-wife, Deidre Kira. To honor David's wishes, his ashes will be scattered at sea.
Family, friends, and members of the community are welcome to join the Kira 'Ohana for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at O'ahu Mortuary, 2162 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu.
