FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ELIZABETH “LIZZY” MARY CASKEN
ELIZABETH Elizabeth "Lizzy" Mary Casken, age 31, daughter of John and Sarah Casken, died on September 2, 2022, at Queen's Medical Center, following the unexpected and devasting effects of a cerebral blood clot. Elizabeth was a registered organ donor and, through Legacy of Life, three recipients in Hawaii received organs, including the father of her close friend.

With the support and love of her family and various people and organizations, Elizabeth had overcome developmental disabilities, speech deficits, and mental health challenges to become an integral part of the community. She was proud to be a union employee at Aikahi Safeway, where she valued her job, her co-workers, and the many shoppers she greeted with her infectious smile and brilliant blue eyes.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is survived by her brothers, Philip (Sophie), Paul, Damien (Silke), and James; two nephews, Remy and Beau; her uncle, Roger (Melissa Walt) Thompson, and her aunt, Patty Thompson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nancy and Lloyd Thompson, and her uncle, Robert Thompson.

A large gathering to honor Elizabeth was held Friday, Sept. 9th, with a paddle-out and scattering of ashes as the sun set and the full moon rose.

Donations in Elizabeth's honor may be made to Special Olympics, designating the Kamali'i Koa and the Mighty Ducks teams, or to Safeway Foundation Hawaii Scholarship Fund, c/o Hawaii Community Foundation.
