86, of Waipahu, passed away at home on September 1, 2022. She was born on November 8, 1935 in Hiroshima, Japan, where she lived until she married in 1957 to husband Nobuo Ishimaru. They left Hiroshima to start their new life in Maui as farmers in Kula. They would eventually move to Oahu where Sumiko owned and operated a care home as a caregiver until retirement. Preceded in death by her husband Nobuo and survived by daughters and sons- in-law, Maizie (Ross) Miyashiro; Susan (Morris Jr) Shiratori and Edna (Randall) Takaki; 5 grand- children and 1 great-grandchild.
