He was an active member of the Nuuanu Baptist Church and served as a deacon and in many leadership positions. With several members of the church he conducted a weekly service at the Maluhia Hospital. He was employed by the Dept. of the Air Force at Hickam AFB and traveled abroad to the different Air Force bases for training and retired as an Aircraft Maintenance Training Specialist.
As a retiree, Henry volunteered in the community and was a member of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and served as President of the Board of Directors of Friends of Maluhia for many years. He also served on the Oahu Region Ethics Committee for Maluhia and Leahi hospitals.
Henry is survived by his wife Irene, daughter Susette (Matthew) Higashida, son Grant (Juri) Yamashita, 4 grandchildren, Janelle (Jacob) Munson-McGee, Adrienne Higashida, and Oliver & August Yamashita, sister Clara Shibuya, brother George (Elaine) Yamashita, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on September 3, 2022 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary for family and friends.
