Our beloved Mom & Grandmother, Josephine "Sae Sae" Perry Lau, peacefully left us on July 25, 2022, with her children by her side. She was born in Wailuku, Maui, on December 24, 1928, to the late Carrie and John Perry. She worked at Dole Cannery for 8 years, but left the job in 1971 to work as a 24-hour emergency shelter home and retired from the DSS Homefinding Unit and Child Protective Services. As a shelter home, she loved taking care of children especially babies, playing rummy with her friends and going to Las Vegas!
She is survived by children: Claudia (Wayne) Thompson, Sharlyn (Myron) Sato, Deborah (John) Leong, Valerie (Moses) Opunui, Rita (Russell) Luke, Stanford (Susan) and William "Boyse" (Patricia); siblings: Vivian Reynoso, Hazel Deponte, Caroline (Mark) Loos, John (Dorothy) Perry and Grand, Great and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Predeceased by husband William, son Coulson, her parents, stepfather John Fernandez and brothers, James, Gilbert, Clarence Perry and John Fernandez III.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 7, 2022, at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Street, Honolulu. Visitation 10:30 a.m.; Service: 11:30 a.m.; Burial 2:00 p.m. at Punchbowl.
