It is with great sorrow that Edie Trujillo and her children, Donnie Ford and Chris Trujillo, announce the passing of their much loved husband and dad. Luis passed at home on August 15, 2022, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Born in Lima, Peru, to the late Eugenio and Maria Trujillo, Luis was the 8th of 10 children.
In 1969, he received a full scholarship from LASPAU to study in the United States. He attended Southern Illinois University, and graduated from the University of Hawaii.
A lifelong learner and educator, he retired from teaching science at McKinley high school.
Luis was a cherished "Papa" by his grandchildren: Eli and Wyatt Ford, Cruz Tom Hoon, Amaru and Nazca Trujillo; a dear father-in-law to Jim Tom Hoon and Kealakai Hammond; a loving brother to Victor, Aida, Mery, Rosa, Juanita, and the late Carmela, Doris, Flor and Olga.
A private family gathering and Celebration of Life was held on his birthday. A Final Aloha will be held at a later date.
