Ellen McSpadden Humphrey passed away on July 31, 2022 at the age of 94. Ellen was born September 15, 1927 in Clifton, Arizona. She attended high school and nursing school in San Diego County, CA. She was married to her high school sweetheart, John C. Humphrey, Commander, U. S. Navy, for sixty-six years, until his passing in 2015. Ellen had a notable career as a registered nurse, serving in the field of public healthcare education, eventually becoming the director of MedAssist Hawaii School. She was an avid runner later in life running ten marathons and many other races, winning numerous trophies and awards. Ellen lived in Hawaii for 53 years and loved to travel and sail. She is survived by her siblings Wilbur Reed, Anna Bainter, and Robert Reed, her children Steffanie Humphrey (Stephanie), John Humphrey (Jane), and Judy McDonald, her grandchildren Andrew McDonald (Megan) and Keely Erautt (Cody), and great- grandchildren Kai and James Erautt and Elizabeth McDonald, as well as her fur baby, Kainani. She loved and was loved by her entire family and countless friends. Memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Red Cross or your favorite charity.
