FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Mariangela Martina Nip
Mariangela Martina NipIn the early hours of August 10, 2021, surrounded by love and affection, Mariangela Martina Unti Nip, 97, passed away peacefully.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Orlando Unti and Rosa Beghini Unti, Maria was the youngest sibling to sister Aurora and brother Oreste. She graduated from The Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1941, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from New York University and her Teacher's Certificate from the University of Hawaii.

In life, Maria had a variety of interests, accomplished several goals and touched many lives. Being a mother and grandmother (Nonna) was her greatest joy, and throughout her life she shared her love and laughter with everyone she met, as a parent, teacher, advocate, volunteer and best friend anyone could ask for. She was an artist (pencil and watercolors), a dancer (tap), and an avid reader (autobiographies). Her cup was always "half full" with a positive outlook no matter what the challenges were. Her caring, compassionate and kind heart was genuine, unconditional and always uplifting when one needed it most. Her selflessness has been an inspiration and guiding light for those she was closest to.

Mom, we look to the stars, the openings to heaven, and draw strength and joy from your everlasting love. We see your effervescent smile and sparkling eyes, and feel your tender touch and warm embrace with every daily thought of you. Your life and love are ours to cherish forever. We love you and miss you dearly!

Maria's family extends their belated thanks to Kahala Nui (Hi'olani) staff and administrators for their care and support during her many months of residence and her final weeks of life, St. Francis Hospice for bringing peace and comfort in her last days, and our extended 'Ohana who adore her as much as we do.

Maria is survived by children Carla, Marisa, Kevin, Vincent and George and their families.
