Lloyd Young Son Kim passed away peacefully at his home on October 21, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born in Honolulu and was a proud graduate of Leilehua High School, the University of Hawaii and Columbia University.He retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel after serving his country in 3 wars: World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. After 26 years in the Army, Lloyd taught Mathematics at Iolani School for 18 years followed by a Civil Service position as a U.S. Advisor to the Republic of South Korea Armed Forces and stationed in Korea.
Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, raising mums and orchids, photography, electronics, classical music, crossword puzzles, seeing the sights via short or long drives and old swashbuckler movies.
As the last of his brothers and sisters, he leaves a legacy of hard work, and fierce loyalty to family and friends. "Do the right thing the right way for the right reasons, and do it with dignity respect and love" was his guidepost and serves as one for those left behind.
He is dearly missed by his family and friends. Private Services will be held.
