On October 24, 2022, the world lost Ray "Joe Boy" Irwin Diffen. He was 88 years old. He loved the beach, sports, art, and most of all, spending time with his family.Ray was born in Honolulu in 1934 to parents Mary Bethlehem Johnson and Clyde Clayton Diffen. In the 1950s he spent time in Lanikai and Honolulu where he met his first wife, Donna Gould. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952. The couple had three children, Lowell "Mike", Leslie, and Marta Diffen. Ray remained in the Marines for 20 years achieving the rank of Major. He retired from the military and moved to Texas where he met and married his second wife, Suzanne Davis. The couple resided in Austin and had a son, Daniel.
Ray is survived by his wife Suzanne; his four children and five grandchildren: Amy, Emma, Angela, Brydon, and Darcy; niece and nephew Renee and Rocky Harshman and dozens of cousins.
