90, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022. Ray was born on September 4, 1931 to Ruth Kim Yin Lau and Chong Chew Wong. He was the second of five siblings - Ted, Ray, Wilfred (Bill), Juanita, and Lester (Sonny). He attended Ali'iolani Elementary and later enrolled at 'Iolani School at the original Nu'uanu campus and became part of the class of 1949. Upon graduating, he received a NROTC scholarship to attend Marquette University and graduated in 1953. After five years of service he was hired at Dole Corporation as a Financial Operations Analyst and was later transferred to Vice President of Corporate Development at Castle & Cooke. After leaving C&C he pursued opportunities in Hong Kong and South Korea. In Seoul he became a private consultant to the president of a major South Korean company. He was instrumental in many construction projects in South Korea and around the world.
Ray is survived by his wife Carol (Tsubakihara) Wong; son Matthew (Elizabeth); daughter Ruthmarie (Kevin) Nishikawa; and his grandchildren Preston & Peyton Wong and Kendra-Ray & Callie Nishikawa.
Private services were held. A private inurnment at Diamond Head Cemetery will be done at a later date.
