73, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Queen's Hospital. John was born on October 23, 1948 to Harry and Ellen Nakao, who both are predeceased. John was a long term care insurance broker dba LTCAdvisors.John graduated from the Mid Pacific Institute in 1966. He attended the University of Hawaii and Washington State University then was an exchange student to study abroad at the Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan before returning to Hawaii. He graduated in Animal Sciences at the University of Hawaii thereafter. John worked as a representative for several pharmaceutical companies and which eventually led him to financial services.
John traveled extensively for pleasure and did mission trips to Nepal, China and Indonesia. He was a member of Pearlside Church in Honolulu and a small group leader. Previously, he was the chaplain to Pali Momi Hospital and volunteered to entertain for nursing home residents and to foreign fishermen at the pier.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sister, Joanne; brother Gary; brother-in-law Stephen (Junette) Higa; sister-in-law Cheryl (Guy) Lawrence, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
