FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Paul Aimoku Duvauchelle, Sr.
Paul Aimoku Duvauchelle, Sr.Passed away peacefully in his sleep October 15, 2022. He was 99 years old. Paul was Born Sept 25th 1923 Honolulu Hawaii. He grew up in Kalihi. During those early years his mom would take him to Honolulu Harbor so he could catch a ride on the interisland barge to Moloka'i. Throughout his early life he divided his time between Honolulu and Moloka'i, but he always called Moloka'i his home. He attended St. Louis from 7th to 9th grade then went to Kamehameha and graduated class of 1941. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp after the start of WWII, completed flight training and became a flight instructor until the end of the War. Paul started Island Flight Service where he met Anna Hudnall his future wife of 65 years. They had 4 Children. He also became one of the original fighter pilots for the Hawaii Air National Guard and retired from there after 20 years' service. During this time Paul was also an Air traffic Controller with the FAA until he retired as a GS-15 administrator some 35 yrs later. He was a kind, patient, man. Always concerned with the future of his children he kept involved in all their activities; Little league, Pop warner, swim team, school functions and once took all of us on a trip to the Big Island on a twin engine Cessna that he flew, and let us take turn flying.

He and his wife Anna kept busy during retirement travelling to Atlanta GA and Fort Lauderdale FL visiting his sons and to the Big Island to see his daughter, and of course to Las Vegas for fun. At home he was involved with his friend Will Bowker establishing a neighborhood watch program which they ran for several years.

Paul Duvauchelle will always be remembered as a good and caring man.

He is survived by his 5 children, Paul Edward, Paul Aimoku Jr, Claire, Mark and Harry; 4 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 21st at The Valley of the Temples Mortuary 47-200 Kahekili Highway, Kaneohe, HI. Visitation 10am family, 10:30 friends; service 11am. Casual attire. Burial will be November 22nd 9:30am at Punch Bowl Cemetery
