FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Albert Yoshito Yoshiyama
Albert Yoshito YoshiyamaAlbert Yoshito Yoshiyama, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on November 4, 2022 at Arcadia Retirement Residence at the age of 89. He was born in Hilo on January 19, 1933, the second of eight children of Yoshio and Hatsuyo Yoshiyama. Growing up, Albert excelled in the classroom and on the baseball field as an all-star catcher. Upon graduating from Hilo High School in 1950, he attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and earned a degree in civil engineering. He used his engineering skills while serving in the U.S. Army. His military service took him all over the continental US and abroad to Africa. Upon completing his military service, Albert worked in California then returned to Hilo to help his family. He moved to Oahu to pursue his engineering career and met the love of his life, Yuriko Tsuhako. Albert and Yuriko were married on August 11, 1962. They raised three children, Colin, Jon, and Kathleen in Manoa and celebrated 55 years of marriage.

In 1972, Albert decided to become his own boss and started Constructors Hawaii, Inc. which grew to become one of Hawaii's top general contractors for over 50 years. Albert was a devoted husband and father, who had a strong work ethic. After retiring from Constructors, Albert enjoyed the simple things in life - golfing, growing orchids, making ukuleles and spending time with his seven grandchildren. Albert could often be seen in his familiar fishing hat chomping away on a cigar and puttering around the yard.

Albert is predeceased by his wife, Yuriko. He is survived by his three children Colin (Chris), Jon (Carol), and Kathleen (Kerstan) Wong, and his seven grandchildren Luke, Jadynn, Ally, Brooke, Hope, Leina, and Casey. He is also survived by his siblings Bertha, James (Connie), Alice, Patrick (Lois), Wally (Debbie), Joanne (Alan), and Larry (Dale) and many nephews and nieces.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Arcadia for the wonderful care that Albert received. It is a comfort to know that he is at peace.

A private ceremony for the family will be held on a later date.
