Isabel was born in Hibbing, Minnesota. After finishing high school and graduating from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Isabel came to the Islands in March 1953, aboard the ocean liner S.S. Lurline. She knew immediately that she was "home".
Shortly after arriving in Honolulu, she met the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, DeForest Hayes. Their life together on Oahu flourished into a family truly blessed by their love and many friendships. Together they lived and exhibited true aloha. Isabel's good nature, kindness, humor, and wisdom are at the heart of our fond memories of her. She welcomed everyone, always, into her heart and the family home. Her grace is held dear by the people whose lives she touched.
Isabel was preceded in death by her husband, DeForest, and sons Timothy and Peter. She is survived by sons Richard, David and Michael; her daughters Barbara Vitor (Loreto), and Jean Yasui (Dan); and her grand- daughters Mairiana and Desirae Hayes-Vitor.
A private service was held with family and friends in May 2022.
