Max Ludwig Besenbruch
Max Ludwig BesenbruchMax Besenbruch (born Jan 1 1924, died Oct 12 2022), was raised by Clara and Peter Besenbruch in Florida and Germany. He served in the German Navy in WWII, met his American wife, Ann, as they worked as translators for the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunals. Max emigrated to the United States in 1935, eventually working as a German teacher for the Berlitz Schools. He rose to vice-president in the company. He raised two children, Helen and Peter. Having lived in Europe and the U.S. east coast, he decided to retire to Hawaii in 1992, making friends through Rotary, the Austrian Club, and the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his children, and two grandchildren. His ashes will be scattered at sea in a brief service, December 3 at 8:00 a.m., followed by a brunch at the Waikiki Yacht Club.
