June Omori Iwahashi, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Kuakini Memorial Hospital. Wife to Tooru Iwahashi, beloved mother of sons Russell, Gary, Dexter (Gweneth) and Vernon (Concesa) Omori, devoted grandmother of Reese, Remy, and Rhianne Omori, Rhonda Rabang and Royce Abero. June is also survived by her sisters Tomoko (Rafeek) Mohideen and Anna (Dennis) Tanaka, and her brother Duane (Robin) Izumi, three great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Preceded in death by parents Reverend Kakusho and Kiyo Izumi. Brothers Satokazu, Takaaki, Hiromichi, Makoto and Thomas. Sisters Megumi Fujiwara, Norie Freitas, and Katsuyo Abe. Nephew Rafeek Mohideen, Jr. and niece Iris Omura.June's life took her from Fukuoka, Japan to Hawaii, to an "Alien Internment Camp" in Texas during World War II, and back to Hawaii - each experience strengthening her character and her faith. She lived her life for those she loved, and that love was returned a hundredfold by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be missed but will never be truly gone.
Memorial service will be held Saturday December 17th at the Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin (1727 Pali Hwy). Visitation 10:30am, service to follow at 11:30am.
