MATSUO YAMASHIRO
MATSUO YAMASHIROMatsuo (Matt) Yamashiro, 90, of Honolulu, HI, fell peacefully asleep in death on November 15, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara (Miyashiro) Yamashiro; daughters Rae, Joy and Michi Yamashiro, and Paula (Vernon) Procell; nephew Alvin Yamashiro; nieces Diana Yamashiro and Gail (Malcolm) Onuma; and Taiko Ota.

Matsuo was born to Okinawan immigrants Matsu and Kameko (Teruya) Yamashiro. He grew up in the north shore town of Kahuku with his older brothers, Shigeru and Rodney (Nora) Yamashiro. He had one sister, Kazuko Kinjo of Okinawa. (all predeceased). After graduating from Kahuku High School, he served in the US Marine Corps and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He married Clara in 1955.

Matt was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1965. He especially enjoyed teaching people the Bible's peaceful message and volunteering his skills as an electrician on construction projects in the mainland, locally, and internationally.
