For over 40 years, he was a pastor, social justice advocate and community activist. Born in Wailupe, he was raised on a taro and banana farm in Kahalu'u and attended Waiahole and Castle High School. He graduated UH with Bachelors and Masters in Physics and taught math and physics at UH Hilo. He earned a MDiv Union Theological Seminary in New York City, served in the State House of Representative and Senate was a State Water Commissioner. He also served as the Executive Director of KEY Project, and was one of the founding clergy of FACE, Faith Action for Community Equity.
