93, of Kamuela, Hawaii, and formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at Hale Ho'ola Hamakua in Honoka'a, Hawai'i on Monday, October 17, 2022.Lavaina was a loving wife, mother, aunty, grandmother, and friend. Lavaina was born in Honolulu and was moved to Honoka'a as a child. After graduation she moved back to Honolulu, met and married William "Bill" Conrad Ferreira who passed away in 1994. Lavaina spent over 10 years as librarian assistant at Maryknoll High School in Honolulu. She moved back to Kamuela where she was a resident of Waimea Elderly Housing for the last 17 years. She was also a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Kamuela. Lavaina will be best remembered as someone who brightened the lives of everyone around her. She was always grateful and had a smile or kind word for all who came in contact with her.
Lavaina is survived by her daughters: Catherine Ferreira; Christine Hijirida; Cynthia (Tom) Young; Charissa (Manolo) Tumalip; Ceciy (Matt) Shizuru and grandchildren: Brandon and Bryan Ferreira, Mitchell Hijirida, Alexander Tumalip, Kamilipua and Nainoa Shizuru, all of Honolulu.
A Celebration of Lavaina's Life will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Imiola Church, 65-1084 Mamalahoa Hwy., Kamuela, Hawai'i. Visitation at 9:30am, services at 10:30am with lunch to follow.
