Kathy King (Cramer) Higham was born on November 10, 1953, in Redwood City, California, and passed away on November 23, 2022, at the age of 69. She was the older sister of three brothers, Richard, David and Christopher Cramer. In 1971 she moved to Hawaii to attend UH Manoa, graduating in May 1975 with a BS degree in Political Science. She met her husband, John, while attending the UH in early 1973, and they were married on May 16, 1975, just after she graduated. After finishing her master's degree in Political Science, she went to work for Lieutenant Governor Jean King as a speech writer until she decided to go to the UH Law school which she graduated from in May of 1984. She started her legal career at Rush Moore and made partner in January 1991, shortly after the birth of her first child, John Gregory, "Greg". After 10 years, she left Rush Moore in March 1994, after the birth of her second child, Amy Elizabeth, to start her own law practice which she ran for nearly 6 years. Kathy closed down her practice in May 1999, and started work at Kessner Duca Umebayashi Bain & Matsunaga. She worked there for 11 years and then spent 4 years working at Dwyer Schraff and Myer. In March 2015, she became a Deputy Attorney General and 6 years later retired from the Attorney General's office in September 2021. Kathy's family was the most important thing in her life. She loved to take family vacations. She was the creative mastermind that kept life fun. She always had a plan for "what's next." She did all the planning for 36 ski trips in a dozen different places and a variety of "cruises" including the Inside passage to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico and also a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. There were also summer vacations including white water rafting and trips to Maine, east coast adventures to see New York and Washington DC, along with Disney World, Universal Studios and of course the Kennedy Space Center. She loved watching football and was an avid 49ers fan. She was strong willed but also had a very sharp wit. She was a get-it-done kind of person but was very generous to her friends, always offering to help when they were in need.
Kathy is survived by her husband, John, of 47 years; her two children Greg and Amy and her husband Matt Stine; her mother Marjorie Eames and her siblings, David and Christopher as well as her golden retriever puppy Izzy. Kathy was predeceased by her father Ralph Cramer, brother Richard and golden retriever Lilly.
