Ronnie Christopher Menor
Ronnie Christopher MenorRon Menor, 67, a devoted husband, father and public servant to his community, passed away on January 16, 2022. Ron was born in Hilo, Hawaii on September 29, 1955 to the late Hawaii Supreme Court Justice, Benjamin Menor, and Lillian Menor. As a teenager, his family moved from Hilo to Central Oahu. After completing his post-secondary education at Iolani School, Ron went on to earn a B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. After attending college and law school on the mainland, Ron returned home to Central Oahu to raise a family and to pursue a political career that would enable him to make a difference in his community. Between 1982 and 2008, Ron served as a legislator in both the state House of Representatives and the Senate where he worked on a myriad of issues affecting Central and Leeward Oahu. From 2012 to 2020, Ron served on the Honolulu City Council representing District 9, which included the communities of Mililani, Waikele, Waipahu, Village Park, Royal Kunia, and Ewa Beach. As a lawmaker, Ron passionately worked to drive positive change in the community and bring about a brighter future for all. He was known for his tireless efforts to improve public programs and services to communities, fight government corruption, and make Hawaii a more affordable place to live for everyday residents. In addition to representing his community as an elected official, Ron was also heavily involved in his community as a member of the Mililani Lions Club, the YMCA, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations, Mililani's Neighborhood Crime Watch Program, School Community Councils, and other community organizations. Ron was also a devoted follower of Christ and attended New Hope Central Oahu Church located in Wahiawa, Hawaii. One of the ways he served the Lord was participating as a group leader in Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program for people struggling with issues controlling their lives. Ron is survived by his wife, Patricia, and 3 sons: Andrew, Anthony, and Benji. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and the communities he served during his lifetime. He will be remembered for his strong faith, indomitable spirit, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
