FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

CHEW NUNG LUM
CHEW NUNG LUM97, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2023. He was born in Nuuanu on January 20, 1925, the fourth of six children, and graduated from McKinley High School in 1942. After serving in the US Army, he attended the University of Hawaii and earned a degree in Business Economics in 1951. This was followed by a long and successful federal service career with Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, where he retired as a Management Analyst in 1980. In addition to being an avid fisherman, Chew Nung was also skilled in bowling, basketball, volleyball, and tennis, and became a superb golfer despite learning to play relatively late in life. He maintained a beautiful yard, growing orchids and various fruit trees, and loved to share his knowledge of plants with friends and family. Still active in his 90's, Chew Nung enjoyed both losing money with his grandchildren in Las Vegas, and winning the family's first Fantasy Football championship.

He is preceded in death by his siblings and his wife, Frances, and is survived by sons, Stanley, Philip (Sandra) and Matthew (Carol); and grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, and Noe. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Community Church of Honolulu where Chew Nung was a longtime active member. Visitation 10:00 am; Service 11:00 am. Casual/aloha attire. No flowers or lei. In lieu of gifts to the family, donations to Aloha United Way are suggested.
