Born Dolores Ann Raposa in Attleboro, MA, she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Nursing in the early 1960s. She went on to work in several hospitals, including Wahiawa General Hospital. In 1986, she left nursing when she moved overseas, turning to teaching English to college students in Seoul, Korea. During her retirement, she volunteered at the National Gallery of Art, her local library branch, and in elementary schools.
Dolores is survived by her three sons: Dr. Scott (Alyssa) Barbour of Suwanee, GA; Mark (Tammy) Barbour of Harrisburg, PA; and Glen Barbour of Washington, DC.; four granddaughters: Haley, Katelyn, Sidney, and Sienna as well as her sister, Janet Hurwitz, of Dedham, MA.
In the coming year, Dolores will be reunited with her husband,
and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
