Lydia Centeno Maiwela
Lydia Centeno MaiwelaLydia (Centeno) Maiwela, passed away on February 21, 2023 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 95. She was the devoted mother of four children, Rex Corley, Roxanne Corley, James "Kimo" Maiwela III and Keoni Maiwela. Lydia also leaves behind her brother, Lawrence Centeno, grandchildren, Brian, Dakota, Bram, Max, Jadon, Marly, and great-grandson, Kota, and many nieces and nephews.

Lydia was born to Reverend Emeterio A. Centeno & Feliza Cruz Centeno in Puunene, Maui, on November 16, 1927. Sisters Elizabeth & Corrine and brother Emeterio (Terry) Jr., predeceased her.

A graduate from Farrington High School, Lydia went on to attend college at Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, CO. She retired in 1994 after 29 years with the State of Hawaii's Dept. of Social Services & Housing (now Dept. of Human Services).

Services will be held at Kawaiaha'o Church, 957 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 on April 22, 2023, at 1:30pm, and is open to all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kawaiaha'o Church by mail.
