FRED KEAKAOKALANI CACHOLA
FRED KEAKAOKALANI CACHOLAFred Keakaokalani Cachola was born in Hala'ula, Kohala in 1935, and on February 20, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones, this son of Kohala returned to Ke Akua. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Decker; his sisters Henrietta Dolly (David) Kaleikau and Marie Midge Kawai; his daughters Julie-Ann Cachola, Kehaunani (Sean) Abad, and Leinani Cachola (David Hieber); his mo'opuna Nakili Cachola, Kalamapua'ena and Kamalupawehi Abad, and Laukani Hieber.

Fred was an educator, community leader, Hawaiian cultural advocate, noted historian, passionate volunteer for numerous organizations and causes, and a faithful member of 'lmiola Church.

Fred's profound aloha for Hawai'i, the people of Hawai'i, and 'oiwi culture, history, and wahi pana moved his heart and hands in ways that will continue to reverberate for many generations to come.

A celebration of life will be held at the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Chapel on Sat., April 22 with visitation at 2:30 p.m. and services at 3:30 p.m. A second celebration will be held at 'lmiola Church in Waimea, Hawai'i on Sat., April 29 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of lei or flowers, the family asks that folks please share remembrances of Fred (text, photos, video) and send them to haliaalohafredcachola@gmail.com. which they hope to malama as a keepsake for his mo'opuna and future mo'opuna.
