ROBERT “BOB” DUPUIS
Age 69, of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away in his Kaimuki home early Sunday morning October 29, 2017, surrounded by his family - 41 years clean and sober. Born in Grandby, Canada in 1948, he emigrated to the United States as a young child and grew up in Southern California. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served honorably in the United State Marine Corps and was discharged as the youngest Sergeant to achieve his rank. In 1993, Bob and his wife Patricia sailed to Hawaii after deciding to embark on, what would become the adventure of a lifetime. Bob loved the ocean and was an avid sailor and adventurer. In 1997 Patricia and Bob, and their boat "Mistress", set sites on the South Pacific and began what can only be described as an odyssey of discovery, escapade, and often heroism. There explorations took them to Palmyra Atoll, the Samoas, Fiji, New Caledonia, culminating in their arrival in Vanuatu. After officially joining the land lovers and selling "Mistress", Bob began to cultivate his next project. With his extensive knowledge of all things mechanical and ocean-faring, Boat Surveys Hawaii, evolved out of his passion for boats. His business was his labor of love and soon became a driving force in his life. Bob was a member of The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS), The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS), and The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). Bob was a man of impeccable integrity and was a source of knowledge and confidant to many beloved friends and family. His willingness to "give back" was of great strength to himself and others around him. He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Eric, daughter Lisa, 2 granddaughters Ashley and Britney, and 2 great granddaughters Tina and Mia. Bob has a large extended ohana here on Oahu who have embraced him and surrounded him with love and support. There will be a private celebration of life for immediate family followed by scattering of ashes at a later date.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
