Lillian Yukie Nanbu
At the remarkable age of 100, Lillian Nanbu passed away on November 3, 2017 at her home. She was born on April 27, 1917 in Makaweli, Kauai, and later lived in Lihue and Honolulu. Lillian was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kiyoshi Nanbu, a decorated veteran of the 442 Regimental Combat team. Lillian is survived by her children: Harvey (Caroline) Urakawa, Sharlene (Alfred) Castillo, and Rodney (Patsy) Nanbu; grandchildren: Kimi (Chris) Young, Jonathan Urakawa, Marc (Brandi) Castillo, Chrissie Castillo (Matt) McDonald, Brad Castillo, Sarah and Kayla Nanbu; and four great-grand- children. Graced with a kind and generous nature, Lillian will be remembered for her wonderful cooking ability and her willingness to share whatever she had, whether it was fruits from her trees or her freshly baked banana bread. She will be dearly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at Hosoi Mortuary on Sunday, December 10. Visitation at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Aloha attire. No flowers, please.
