ESTHER MAMIE HART Esther Mamie Hart, 95, of Laytonville, California died November 26, 2017 in Laytonville, California. She was a former resident of Honolulu for over thirty years. Esther Hart was born July 31, 1922 to Mabel and Walter Micheels in Omaha, Nebraska. Esther was an artist for 40 years and domestic engineer for 77 years. She served the many communities she graced with everything from knitting sweaters for foster children to hosting celebrations of unparalleled elegance. She was active in Episcopal congregations in every one of the communities in which she lived. An adventurous Soul she began her life in Omaha, Nebraska, followed the love of her life to California so they could be married before the war. Esther married Jess Hart on July 27, 1940 in Reno, Nevada. While living in Bodega Bay, CA, her first child, son Michael, was born in 1944. After Esther and Jess moved back to Nebraska for a time, she gave birth to their second child, daughter Donnalee, in 1948. The Harts moved to Honolulu, then the US territory of Hawaii, in 1956. They welcomed their first granddaughter into the world, Cecelia Konia Michelle Pooley, in 1975. In 1988 they moved back to Washington State to be closer to their family including their second granddaughter, Amanda Lee Hart born in 1990. In 2002, Esther and Donnalee moved to the rural hills and valleys of Northern California where her great grandchildren were born, Caruna Gillespie, 2003 and Celina Gillespie, 2005. To the end of her days she was actively involved in every aspect of community and family life. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jess Hart, her brother Lloyd Micheels, and her sister Dolores Moore. She is survived by all those loving family members listed above. Services to be held at St. Francis of the Redwoods Episcopal Church 99 Commercial St., Willits, California, December 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
