ELSIE SHEU CHAN KANANA
Elsie S. C. Kanana, 103, of Honolulu, died on December 28, 2017 in Honolulu. She was born in Honolulu on October 23, 1914. After she left school, she worked in the McKinley High School and St. Francis Convent cafeteria. She also worked at Libby Cannery as a forelady for 13 summers. In 1942 she went to work at Pearl Harbor Shipyard and retired in 1969 after 27 years of service. She was never one to be idle, so from 1975 through 1981 she worked in many school cafeterias, first as a cafeteria worker and then teaching an Occupational Skills Training Program for cafeteria workers. She then moved to Moorpark, California, for a short time. She missed her family in Honolulu, so returned and went to work for both Kmart & WalMart, where she was a greeter until age 89. She is survived by Alvin K. Awo (Barbara); Carol Pualani Bunch (David O'Donnel); and Carol Wright - (DECEASED); Grand- mother of eight; great-grand- mother of twenty; great- great- grandmother of ten; great- great-great-grandmother of two and numerous nieces and nephews. Services Tuesday, 1/30/2018, at Diamond Head Mortuary. Visitation 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.; Catholic Prayer service: 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Diamond Head Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. Aloha attire.
