Kalaulimaopeleokekaipakalani “Laulima” Paniccia Lyman
Kalaulimaopeleokekaipakalani KALAULIMAOPELEOKEKAIPAKALANI LAULIMA PANICCIA LYMAN 38, of Kapa'a, passed away January 24 after a long and hard fought struggle with cancer. She was born March 20, 1979 in Honolulu. Laulima grew up in Waialua and attended Kamehameha Schools. She graduated from Naropa University, majoring in Buddhist Psychology. While attending college, she fell in love with Winterpark, Colorado and the many friends she made there. She became an avid snowboarder and remained in the Rocky Mountains for ten years. She also developed a fierce pioneer spirit and honed her independent nature and love of adventure. After graduation, Laulima moved to Kauai, where she had spent many summers growing up, camping and hiking. She worked at Duke's Restaurant where she met her husband, Caleb Odam. They have two children, Kala'e, 7, and Ka'ena, 3. Laulima loved spending time with her family at home, tending to her rose garden, surfing, paddling, and just generally being in or near the ocean. Laulima was deeply loved by family and friends, who describe her as always graceful and gracious. She gave freely of herself and of her wisdom and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband Caleb Odam and their children, Kala'e and Ka'ena, her sisters Aleui and A'ala Lyman, her brother Kepa Lyman, her father James "Kimo" Lyman, her grandmother Mary Paniccia, godmother Patti Paniccia Mailes, and a large family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Laulima was proceeded in death by her mother, Victoria Paniccia Lyman. Her family and friends describe her as a loving and caring person who was deeply loved by family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10am at Lydgate Park in Kapa'a, Kauai."
