KINYA SATO
Kinya passed away peacefully at Queens Medical Center Trauma Center on June 10, 2017, 8 days after he fell and hurt his head. He was 90 years old. He was the first son of Shigetaka and Toku Sato born on September 10, 1926 in Libby Waipio Kipapa Pineapple Camp, Wahiawa Hawaii. After graduation from Kipapa Elementary School, he attended mid-Pacific Institute but graduated from Leilehua High School in 1944. He worked for Libby McNeill & Libby at Waipio for a few years when he was drafted into the Army. Then he attended and graduated from Northrup Aviation School and was an aircraft mechanic for Japan Airlines until his retirement. After retiring he worked part-time at Mililani Golf Course then later from Waikele Golf Course. He was a kind, generous, caring uncle to his brother and sister- in-law, al his nieces, nephews, cousins here and abroad, a good baseball player and an golfer too. He was predeceased by his oldest sister Toshi Nohara of Honolulu, 2nd oldest sister Keiko Sato of Chiba-ken Japan and younger sister Doris Shigetomi of Gardena, California. He is survived by his younger brother Richard H. Sato, nieces Dorcie Sakuma, Anne Abaya, Mary Jones, Janet Nakamura, Kathy Myers, Tressy Chan, Taeko Bonkohara of Hokkaido Japan and nephews Stanley Sato, Dean Shigetomi, Steve Nohara, Tsuneo Sato, Mutsuo Sato and Kaoru Sato. Also many grand nieces (Blair Blazek) and nephews (Alan Nakamura) here and abroad.
